Before we dive deeper into the best free CEUs for dietitians, let’s take a peek at some stats.
According to the CDC’s National Statistics Report, 37.3 million Americans had diabetes in 2019. Of those 37.3 million, 8.5 million were undiagnosed, meaning, they didn’t know they even had diabetes (1). And to top that off, about half of these people were from a unique cultural background including Latinos and African Americans.
So while diabetes may not be your jam, the probability of you crossing paths with a patient, friend, or family member that has diabetes is very high.
As registered dietitians, we cannot turn a blind eye to these facts. Embracing diversity and learning about cultural food practices helps to build trust and rapport with others, which will ultimately lead to healthier and happier patients!
